University of Chester shortlisted for two prestigious awards

The University of Chester has reached the final round for two categories in the Educate North Awards 2024, which are said to be the most prestigious regional awards in northern England.

The Educate North Awards highlight outstanding successes, development, and achievements at leading sixth form, higher and further education institutions in the north of England. The “Where Are All the Veterans?” project at the university’s Westminster Centre for Research in Veterans has been shortlisted for an award in the innovation category. The university has also been nominated for the Business School of the Year category.

The “Where Are All the Veterans?” project was set up to find novel ways to encourage former Armed Services members to register with primary healthcare practices. In six months, it managed to increase registration by over 200% over 12 primary healthcare services after identifying some 1,311 ex-servicepeople.

Chester Business School’s Associate Professor and Dean, Kirstie Simpson, said about the school’s nomination:

“It is fantastic news to be shortlisted for Business School of the Year in the Educate North Awards. Furthermore, it is an honour to be part of the region’s business community and build relationships with business year-on-year; to be able to play a part in business growth by offering support…”
