Chester's Green Expo UK gets first sponsor

The year’s Green Expo UK has announced its first sponsor in the form of the Cheshire Energy Hub.

Green Expo UK 2024 will comprise a number of events in Chester. First, the University of Chester will host a youth conference on Friday, June 14. Hot on the heels of this will be the Chester Green Weekend on June 15–16, with the exposition itself being held in Grosvenor Park at the Innovation Zone. There will also be a photo competition, with this already being open to entries. Finally, an awards dinner is scheduled for the autumn.

The Cheshire Energy Hub is an industry group representing various companies and organizations with an interest in the industrial cluster around nearby Ellesmere Port, which hosts some of the biggest manufacturers in the country and consumes about 5% of the nation’s energy. Net Zero North West CEO Ged Barlow explained why it was supporting the expo:

“Cheshire, and the North West, is a leader on the way to net-zero, involving more than £100m of capital investment and the creation of 33,000 jobs. We need to develop a skilled workforce through work with the University of Chester, local colleges and schools and recognise innovation.”

The Green Expo UK highlights how Chester is a vibrant city with a diverse range of events, and this is one of the many reasons why people choose to study in Chester. If you’re coming to Chester, or returning as a second- or third-year student, you can find quality private accommodation near Chester university.
