Based on millions of consistently good online ratings and reviews posted on travel platform Tripadvisor, Chester Zoo has been named as the top-rated zoo in the UK for 2024.
The zoo, which is heavily focussed on conservation, also drew over 11,000 “Excellent” ratings, making it the eighth most highly rated zoo in Europe. It hosts around 37,000 animals covering over 500 species.
The CEO of Chester Zoo, Jamie Christon, said his team were ecstatic at being cited as the top-rated zoo in the country. He went on to add:
“It’s an incredible achievement and especially pleasing given it’s based on thousands upon thousands of genuine reviews and opinions. It’s a real seal of approval from our visitors and testament to every single one of our dedicated, hardworking, and talented staff that make our conservation zoo the wonderful place it is.”
He added that not only do visitors get to have a fun day out enjoying the various wildlife experiences offered by the zoo—they are also supporting the zoo’s vital conservation work. He said the Tripadvisor rating was particularly meaningful given that the zoo operates on a non-profit basis to fund its conservation efforts.
