First, you’ll be joining a thriving, inclusive and diverse community comprised of people from all walks of life. You’ll meet people from all over the UK and the wider world; the university provides ample opportunities to engage with the community and meet likeminded people. The university cites its participation in Chester Pride, its yearly Diversity Festival, and the efforts it makes together with its Student Race Advocates as examples of this.
Next, be ready to embrace Chester as your new home. The university itself provides plenty of places where you can relax or eat with friends, as well as a diverse range of ways in which you can enjoy yourself affordably. Chester is also a historic city with plenty of attractions like the Roman walls and Cathedral to explore, and you’ll be able to chill out in Grosvenor Park or take a walk along the River Dee, but it also has plenty of contemporary charm. Once you get a feel for the city centre, you’ll no doubt start forming preferences for the many bars and restaurants in the city, many of which offer discounts for students.
While you may prefer to stay in university accommodation in your first year, Chester also has a range of off-campus student accommodation in the Garden Quarter and Hoole, which are close to the university’s main campuses and the city centre.
