Students studying on the Master of Business Administration (MBA) postgraduate degree course at the University of Chester have partnered with social enterprise Grosvenor Hart Homes (GHH) to help it meet its goals.
GHH was launched in autumn last year by the Duke of Westminster with the aim of enabling superior outcomes for young people, vulnerable children and the families thereof by providing secure and affordable housing, employment help, personalised support services and support for mental wellbeing. Thus far, GHH has established a facility for the community in the centre of Chester, worked with Cheshire West and Chester Council to provide support services and refurbished some 29 residential properties.
The programme director for the MBA course, Dr Trevor Omoruyi, said about his students:
“We work to provide them with opportunities with local and global businesses where they can apply their theoretical knowledge to practice. This helps to provide our students with employability skills and real-world experience as part of their studies.”
The students were tasked with coming up with tangible recommendations for the team at GHH. To this end, they pursued research through surveys and academic literature. They also interviewed the various beneficiaries, staff and partners. The current challenges and strategies for achieving growth were discussed at a meeting with GHH’s leadership team.
The University of Chester goes the extra mile in providing its students with opportunities to enhance their employability.
