Chester Literature Festival

Chester Literature Festival

Whether you’re a writer, reader, or simply a passionate creative with a love for the arts - Storyhouse is undoubtedly a haven for artists and University of Chester students alike!

As one of the largest independent letting agencies in Chester, at Bed Student Rentals we know all the goings-on in the city, and how our tenants can make the most of their time living here. An annual event that is definitely worth checking out is the upcoming Chester Literature Festival at Storyhouse…

With many facilities, books, classes and unmissable events, a visit to Storyhouse is always refreshing if you need to inspire yourself with something new. And lucky for the bibliophiles amongst us, Chester Literature Festival is right around the corner!

This celebration comes around once a year and brightens Chester up with two weeks of fantastic events, performances and conversation in a grand celebration of the written word. Writers, poets, actors, and broadcasters come to Storyhouse as special guests to share their passions with us.

The festival is held from the 10th to the 25th of November and hosts a great variety of book-themed events, such as creative writing workshops, celebrating Black and Queer British Poetry (with Dean Atta, Adam Lowe and Kayo Chingonyi), Joanne Harris’ #Storytime, and the very interesting concept of the Human Library. There’s also a bookbinding workshop and a poetry pub crawl to get stuck in with - a night out couldn’t get any more sophisticated!

Not to mention, if you have a student membership card with Storyhouse, you get free tea and coffee when you visit. Plus, during the festival, the Storyhouse Library is hosting Blind Date with a Book, where you can borrow a book based on its description alone, take it home, unwrap it and delve deep into the magic of a new story. That’s free coffee and free books! What more could you want?

Whether you’re wanting to live out your best moody, cold, dark academia life or just want to learn a bit more about a new hobby or love for literature - you should get down to Storyhouse this autumn to see what’s going on!
